In April 2025, GITEX Asia made its much-anticipated debut in Singapore, marking a major milestone for Southeast Asia’s tech ecosystem. Originally founded in Dubai, GITEX has long been one of the world’s largest and most influential technology expos, and bringing it to Asia specifically to Marina Bay Sands, Singapore was a strategic move that reflects the region’s growing importance in global innovation.

The event gathered over 700 global enterprises and startups, 25,000 tech buyers, and more than 250 investors from across 120+ countries. GITEX Asia was more than just a tech showcase it was a curated platform featuring dedicated tracks like AI Everything Asia, Cybersecurity Valley, Quantum Expo, and DigiHealth, all designed to spotlight Asia’s innovation priorities. Highlights included the Singapore100, a program recognizing the country’s top startups, and a matchmaking system that facilitated over 11,000 pre-arranged meetings. The event’s central theme, “Advancing Bold Partnerships in Asia,” encouraged collaboration across public and private sectors, with a focus on AI, cybersecurity, health tech, and data infrastructure.

For Southeast Asian startups especially from the Philippines GITEX Asia offered a rare opportunity for global exposure, investor access, and regional benchmarking, all within a short flight. While the event delivered impressive scale and diversity, it also raised questions about inclusivity, localization, and long-term impact. Still, GITEX Asia’s arrival in Singapore is a strong signal that Asia is not just participating in the global tech race it’s ready to help lead it.
